Book review: Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter

I like anything Italian lately, so I picked up this book after I saw this pretty cover. The story starts in a tiny town in Cinque Terre and the beginning is quite enticing.

However, after going a bit more into the book I lost interest, when more characters started appearing, and additional storylines were added. The writing is not bad, but characters aside from the main guy Pasquale are somewhat annoying and shallow-minded, which makes it boring reading about them.
