Born in frozen Siberia, raised in sunny Southern Kazakhstan, went to college in St. Petersburg, Russia (proud to be a Polytech graduate! Polytech is one of the best technical schools in Russia). Now living happily in New York City, enjoying my life and work. I am curious about various things - food, experiences, places, people, arts… Lately I became very interested in personal finance, public speaking and communication, and design.

Professional

I’ve gotta say I’m happy to be in the technology field, because it never gets boring. There’s always new things to learn and explore, and it just makes sense how everything works. I also grew to love online marketing along with search engine optimization (as crazy as this three word combo sounds). The fun part about SEO & marketing is that you not only have to figure it out technical details for search engines, but also find what makes people interested, what gets them to choose your product or services over your competitors and how in the end creating better user experience pays off.

Design

Honestly, I don’t draw that well (at least yet) but I have a good eye for design. Thanks to iStockPhoto and various CSS showcase sites, it’s now very easy to find inspiration. Add some practice and creativity - and here you go! I will let you be the judge and view the results from my portfolio.

Programming

Programming just comes to me naturally. I was the best kid in school in math and loved other sciences and writing code for me is a lot of fun. Proficient in front-end coding (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, AJAX) and server-side programming (both Microsoft technologies and open source). Basically, when it comes to building websites, I can do it all.

SEO

My two-year tenure at my previous company with my boss and mentor Mike was one of the highlights of my career. I’ve got to learn ins and outs of site optimization, and also lots of other great stuff that Mike shared with the team (think space colonization, democrats vs republicans, OLPC, future of technology, cat behaviour, etc). When I work on your site, I apply the best SEO practices right from the very beginning and keep improving your site’s visibility in search engines as we move along.
